The media tried to sideline the murder of Alex Coughlan, doing the obligatory minimum by reporting it as 'dying after an assault'. They omitted from the headlines that Alex was beaten to death by economic migrants. He was beaten so brutally that he died days later from his injuries. The media used clinical, legal language to gloss over the savagery of the beating, while people online had to find out the real details: that it was filmed by suspects who jeered while he begged for his life. Os media tentou minimizar o assassinato de Alex Coughlan, fazendo o mínimo obrigatório ao noticiá-lo como "morte após agressão". Omitiram das manchetes que Alex foi espancado até a morte por imigrantes económicos. Ele foi espancado com tanta brutalidade que morreu dias depois em decorrência dos ferimentos. Os Media usaram uma linguagem clínica e jurídica para encobrir a selvageria do espancamento, enquanto as pessoas na internet tiveram que descobrir os detalhes reais: que tudo foi filmado por suspeitos que zombavam dele enquanto ele implorava por sua vida.
