Idade média da População por Continente - A map highlighting the median age of each major world region in 2026

Europe has the highest median age at 43.1 years, reflecting an older population shaped by lower birth rates and longer life expectancy. North America follows at 38.9 years, while Oceania stands at 33.6. Asia and Latin America are close at 32.8 and 32.1, showing regions that are still relatively younger but are also steadily aging. Africa remains by far the youngest region, with a median age of just 19.5 years.

Median age reveals much more than population size alone. It helps show where societies are getting older, where younger populations are still dominant, and how these shifts can affect labor markets, education demand, healthcare systems, and long-term economic planning.
